Snowmine - Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 at The Earl

Ok Productions is presenting:

Snowmine at The Earl on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014.

"Dialects, Snowmine's second album in their three year history, was entirely written and produced on their own, and recorded by Jake Aron (Grizzly Bear), and Yale Yng Wong (Here We Go Magic) in a church in Uptown Manhattan. The album chronicles a disoriented period in singer Grayson Sanders' life, when after the band's first record, he spontaneously left his job, and spent the following year wandering with a single bag. The lyrics are pulled entirely from the journal he kept during his travels. Dialects is about communication. With the self. With the lover. With society. It's about its breakdown, it's triumphs, and it's misgivings. Growing off of the band's previous release, Dialects marks a subtle shift in the band's sound, from the optimistic, tribal undertones of Laminate Pet Animal, to a more ambient, meditative nostalgia."

The Dig are performing before Twin Studies.

New York quartet The Dig have been building some buzz from their first two full-lengths of ’80s shoegaze-inspired rock. It’s a Cure-meets-T. Rex sound that utilizes dark keyboards, with enough reverb to drown Robert Smith. You & I marks the band’s third release in two years (following last year’s full-length, Midnight Flowers, and their first 2013 EP, Tired Hearts), those sets comprising an impressive sum of 21 consistently nocturnal and sedated songs. - Consequence of Sound

Small Black - Monday, Sept 15th at The Earl

Ok Productions and Tight Bros presents:

Small Black at The Earl

Small Black released their new album, "Limits of Desire" on May 14, 2013 via Jagjaguwar.

The cover of the album, shot by Dutch artist Scarlett Hooft Graafland, serves as as sort of visual source code for its themes. How are our desires limited and how, in turn, are we limited by them? Featuring a man and a woman embracing on either side of a ladder, the two are completely naked, divided by its triangular span - close but unable to get any closer. It is a moving depiction of modern connectivity and interaction.
