Antbrain will be appearing at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, December 14th

Antbrain are appearing at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, December 14th, 2012.

Antbrain plays their brand of rock music with a crooked smile. Audiences can't help but smile back as their ears get gently tickled by the fuzzy guitars, driving basslines and pummeling rhythms. Starting out as a sporadic recording project for guitarist Jiyoung Lee and bassist Dave Bonawits in 2008, the band discovered their true self when they added drummer Josh Hall in mid-2010. Since then they've been winning audiences over with their self described "slop-pop."

With a colorful melody and a flourishing sweep of the hand this duo will weave their strand of tales, making their way from the solitude of a quiet forest to the wily seas, from the tippy top of a wind swept mountain pass to the twinkling blackness of outer space!

The Extraordinary Contraptions will be performing first.

The Extraordinary Contraptions were formed in the Summer of 2007 by four geeks with an interest in epic storytelling and more musical chops than are usually allowed in a rock band. After some experimentation, they came home to the Atlanta steampunk scene where they developed their musical ideas into an all-encompassing storytelling form. They combine any and everything their creativity fancies in the service of spinning their yarns of scientific romance and gaslight fantasy.

Tedo Stone is performing at The Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, November 24th, 2012.

“Tedo Stone’s music lies somewhere between The Jayhawks and Gram Parsons, and then heavily dosed with psychedelic fuzziness. With a perfect blend of old and new Happy is a fresh listen and a treat to the ears. Stone’s music is worth checking out, and is another great example of a thriving music scene here in Atlanta.” – Chris Martin, Atlanta Music Examiner

England In 1819 will be the performer before Tedo Stone.

England in 1819 is the collaborative project of Andrew and Dan Callaway and their father Liam. Their grandfather, William Callaway, was a traveling musician throughout Georgia during the golden era of the post-war 1940s and 50s. His only son, Liam, followed in his footsteps, honing his musical talents amidst the burgeoning New Wave Athens scene in the late 70s, before moving the family to England while teaching Air Force bands.

Andrew and Dan grew up in the English countryside, playing in rock bands on the weekends with their father. Their musical talents led them naturally into the world of classical music and the family moved back to the US to take advantage of more educational opportunities.

Little Horn will be performing at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, November 23rd

Little Horn will be headlining The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, November 23rd, 2012.

Little Horn began when Atlanta musician Keith Forrester wrote some songs about hard stuff he was going through. Being shy and reclusive about singing it wasn’t until a group picking session in Alabama where he was asked to sing a folk song that everyone else had forgotten the words to that his friend Daniel Bellury noticed his potential. After that fateful day Daniel stepped in to encourage and produce the aforementioned songs into recorded existence. The very minimal gothic-folk style album Such Pretty Houses was born and released very quietly on the then infant New York label Whaleheart Records which Daniel had founded to put out his and his friend’s recordings.

John & The Conners are performing before Little Horn.

It all started back in the big city of San Francisco, CA where Chris Williams (vocals, guitar) started writing songs about his experiences with love, planes, trains, and rock n roll. After running down the wrong road, he nearly met the end of his days. Soon after his life changing incident, he made a bold choice to move back to the humid plains of Auburn, AL. There he continued writing and singing his original conner jams. But one day, a light shinned upon a young man with golden hands and a voice of a god, Travis Widner (lead guitar, vocals, keys) . Well, long story short, they jammed. They developed a musical monster with a unknown original vanilla folk infused sound.

Spirits and the Melchizedek Children are performing at 97 Estoria on Saturday, November 17th, 2012.

Forged in late summer nights surrounding a dying bonfire at camp 1538, Spirits and the Melchizedek Children began as lead singer Jason Elliott’s acoustic ramblings. His opened-ended lullabies and ballads developed in equal measures of melody, psychedelic meanderings, and eulogies to times past.
