Quit hatin. These dudes are fun. Raucous party tunes. Sometimes feete shufflink , sometimes a touch of metaltastic. These guys like hard work and ball sweat. If you haven't started moving yet, then you are really really running out of excuses at this point. Save your excuses for when you need them, like the next day when you were supposed to meet this cute girl for coffee at eleven AM, which you make but then have to explain your godawful smell because you met her at bible study and want her to think you are something that you are not.
They have an album. That they recorded. Do that.

The Levee will be performing first.

The Levee was birthed out of a need to create. Brandon Funk came to the table with 14 songs with the intention of recording an EP using only local talent out of Atlanta for everything it takes to make an album. After enlisting the help of Kyle Schumacher and Michael Stallings to help record his solo project, the three knew that they had something unique. The EP turned into an LP, and the solo project turned into a band, and after recently solidifying their line up with the addition of Tucker Richmond, The Levee released their debut full length on May 20, 2011.

Premonition 13 (featuring WINO!) will be headlining The Drunken Unicorn on Thursday, November 10th

Premonition 13 is performing on Thursday, November 10th, 2011 at The Drunken Unicorn

By now, the musical exploits of Scott “Wino” Weinrich are the stuff of legend. The Obsessed. Saint Vitus. Spirit Caravan. The Hidden Hand. Shrinebuilder. After releasing his solo debut in 2009, Wino went acoustic in early 2011 with Adrift, a gut-wrenchingly personal album written by a man who has survived a lifetime of gut-wrenching scenarios and lived to tell the tales.

Wino’s latest project sees him plugged back in—both to his amplifier and the full-band format. Enter PREMONITION 13, a musical entity that finds its genesis in jam sessions dating back two decades, when Wino first met fellow guitarist Jim “Sparky” Karow. “Jim and I have known each other for about 20 years,” Wino explains. “His wife was basically the first manager of the Obsessed. We played guitars together one day and then we had this really good conversation about magnetism. We realized we had a common love of Mesoamerican stuff and ancient cultures. So we’ve been jamming together for about 15 or 20 years—just me and him, two guitars, no drums or anything like that.”

And so what started as a series of informal jams out at Karow’s spread in the high California desert—a place once inhabited by Brave New World author and LSD enthusiast Aldous Huxley—eventually became songwriting sessions. After enlisting the talents of Ostinato drummer Matthew Clark and former Meatjack bassist Brian Daniloski, they began playing live under the moniker Premonition. But a subsequent Internet search turned up quite a few bands with that very name, so Wino proposed a numerical addendum. “13 is one of my favorite numbers,” he explains. “It’s actually a very positive number, but it’s been misconstrued quite a bit throughout history. Friday the 13th is considered bad luck in America, but that’s just another fear trip. It’s also considered good luck by some esoterically-minded folks because Friday the 13th was the day that Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, was burned at the stake. As he was being burned, he cursed the pope and the king, and they were both dead within a year.”

The Gates Of Slumber will be the second performer of the evening.

Bruising bashers THE GATES OF SLUMBER deftly defy death on their latest volcanic eruption, Hymns of Blood & Thunder. Remember that time when Conan strapped your head to the Anvil of Crom, and then those three bearded, burley bastards bludgeoned it to a bloody pulp using a giant hammer forged of Wrought-Iommi? Well, it’s that time again as Indianapolis heaviest sons return with their latest full length epic!

THE GATES OF SLUMBER encapsulates the metal experience for true believers. The Indianapolis doom metal trio formed in the late 1990’s with the goal of creating a band whose sound delivered an updated take on the member’s long list of favorite heavy metal greats. Weaned on Black Sabbath, St. Vitus, the melodic might of Iron Maiden and a host of classic bands from Thin Lizzy to Rainbow to Mercyful Fate, THE GATES OF SLUMBER draw deep from heavy metal's most powerful blood and deliver doom in its purest form.

Book Club will be performing at the Drunken Unicorn on Friday, November 4th

We are presenting with Performer Magazine

Book Club at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, November 4th, 2011.

Atlanta’s Book Club, a modern folk quintet founded by Robbie Horlick (of indie rockers Cassavetes), navigates today’s indie-folk sea with a rare honesty and classicism. The band honors the folk tradition, yet is unbound by it; every song is a fresh take on an old history. Anchored by the rich and sweetly-sung co-ed harmonies of Horlick and Leigh Anne Macquarrie, their arrangements range from that of a lone nylon guitar to songs thoughtfully embellished by cello, double bass, pedal steel, melodica, glockenspiel, saxophone, percussion, and more. Paying simultaneous homage to their traditional, and their modern, influences, Book Club draws easy comparisons to She & Him, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and The Dutchess and Duke one minute, and Patsy Cline, The Carter Family, and Fleetwood Mac the next.

Ghost, the band’s first LP, released digitally and on limited edition vinyl - and handmade bookmark - on August 2, 2011, sounds like what might result if Lou and Nico were from the South and grew up on Mermaid Avenue, or if Springsteen’s Nebraska were recorded in Nashville. Or, if by some crazy wrinkle in time, Johnny and June grew up listening to Tom Petty and Iron & Wine. The songs on Ghost are pretty and sad, and there is a magic to their orchestration, at times sparse and delicate, at times embellished and blissful. Carefully arranged and tied together by a simple narrative element - with nary a wasted note - Book Club’s Ghost is at once modern and hauntingly timeless.

The Meeks Family will be performing first.

Brooks Meeks has a gift for wrapping sentiment in a few simple words that resonate far beyond the surface. Thirty One Years of Lullaby is Meeks' solo debut following the 2007 breakup of his dour Atlanta indie-rock outfit the Close. In every way, the record embraces the emotional letdown that goes along with the death of a band as well as a dream.

For as long as Meeks can remember, he banked on spending his life on the road. But as adulthood approached, success wasn't materializing for the Close so he abandoned the romantic notions of surviving solely on playing music. "Thirty One Years of Lullaby is my response to having put my whole life into music and then deciding not to tour anymore," he says. "It's the biggest sense of heartbreak that I have ever felt."

Despite the heavy remorse surrounding the album, Meeks has crafted a concise collection of somber, countrified numbers that ooze with symbolism and catharsis, and it's not all about depression. Jonathan Bradley (drums) and Johnny Kral (bass) join Meeks (guitar and vocals), who is at the top of his game with "Lips for Your Kissin'," a lighthearted duet with former bandmate Theresa Fedor. "Tower of Envy" is an ode to being overwhelmed by the enormity of life, while "Roots and Boots" muses on the realities of choosing home life and parenthood over the road, with a subtle tussle between pride and melancholy.

But defeat brings liberation for Meeks. "Most people feel this way when they graduate and enter the working world," he says. "Maybe they wanted to be an astronaut or the president of the United States, but suddenly find themselves doing phone sales in a cubicle. Instead of it happening when I was 21, it happened when I was 31. But with music I'm not making any compromises, and I'm not doing anything that I don't want to do." Purity Ring will be performing at The Drunken Unicorn on Wednesday, November 2nd

"When the debut single from Purity Ring – the new project from a member of New York electro-poppers Gobble Gobble – glides into view, all pinging beats and ghostly vocal samples, you immediately assume the next couple of minutes will consist of repeated pitched-down samples (a sound currently favoured by "blog bands"). So it's thrilling when Megan James's catchy vocal arrives after 30 seconds and Ungirthed instantly takes shape. It even has a dash of Auto-Tune at one point – a sly nod to the pop mainstream from a track that's catchy enough to nestle there itself." - The Guardian

"When you really dig independent music, whether as a fan or a blogger, there’s almost no better feeling than stumbling upon a promising young band that no one’s ever heard of… especially when that band is as talented and exciting as New Animal. Just two dudes from Atlanta, Kris Hermstad and Derek Burdette have labored over 15 tracks and 75 minutes of music in styles ranging from bedroom pop to exp. psych pop to anthemic kraut rock. The more the merrier — they don’t fit some simple category, no “RIYL” recommendations abound. Seemingly from the heart, or from the mind, or from the gut, but at least from somewhere within. They don’t cop someone else’s sound and fuzz the hell out of it to mask their theft. They aren’t hopping on the latest genre bandwagon. Listen for yourselves!" - I Guess I'm Floating

"Featureless Ghost has a vivid presence yet not much is known about the enigmatic duo from Terminal City.

Their songs are immediate enough to make you dance but wild enough to freak you out.

Since January 2011, Featureless Ghost has released three singles, one compilation, one full length, five music videos, and have an EP coming out this fall. The effect is blinding." - Doobious

The King In Yellow will be starting the show.

The King in Yellow started as a result of a couple failed projects in early January of 2011. After the lifetime of guitarist Nathan DeMatteis’ and drummer Brandon Hellebuyck’s high school math-rock band came to an end, Nathan started writing music with guitarist Andrew Carmichael in a short-lived indie band with Nathan on bass guitar. The band quickly deteriorated from lack of interest from most members, seeing as the music was almost completely composed of riffs that Andrew had recycled from songs that he had written prior.

With two bands full of great musicians in shambles, Nathan and Andrew got together with an idea to start a new project, combining Andrew’s post-rock and jazz influences, Nathan’s math-rock and post-hardcore influences, and Brandon’s pop and punk influences. And so, the three started writing music casually until finding their first bassist, Travis Spencer and becoming The King in Yellow.

The Drums are performing at the Drunken Unicorn on HALLOWEEN!

The Drums are performing at The Drunken Unicorn on HALLOWEEN, 2011.

"An unlikely but undeniably catchy mix of Factory Records-style indie and ‘50s-inspired melodies, the Drums have roots that can be traced to the childhood friendship of Jonathan Pierce and Jacob Graham. After meeting at summer camp, the pair formed the electro-pop duo Goat Explosion while they were still in their teens. However, the band split and Pierce and Graham went on to other projects: Graham formed the indie pop group Horse Shoes, who released an EP on Shelflife in 2009. Meanwhile, Pierce and another friend, Adam Kessler, founded the new wave-inspired band Elkland, who were signed to Columbia Records and issued the album Golden in 2005. That year, Pierce left the band (which broke up in 2006) and took a hiatus from making music. In 2008, Graham and Pierce reconnected and began writing songs together, trading the electronic direction of their earlier collaboration for a guitar-based approach. Early the following year, Pierce and Graham moved from central Florida to New York City, where Kessler became their second guitarist. With the addition of drummer Connor Hanwick, formerly of Cape of No Hope, the Drums’ lineup was complete, and by that summer, the band’s shows were gaining buzz. Moshi Moshi released the Drums’ singles "Let’s Go Surfing" and "I Felt Stupid," and their debut EP, Summertime!, arrived late in 2009. The singles "Best Friend" and "Forever and Ever Amen" preceded the band's self-titled first album, which Moshi Moshi released in the U.K. in spring 2010; it arrived in the States that autumn. During their first U.S. tour, Kessler left the group; friend of the band Tom Haslow played guitar for the rest of those dates. The Drums commenced writing and recording as a trio, releasing their first single with this lineup, "The New World," in April 2011. Recruiting Violens' Chris Stein and Myles Matheny as members of their touring act, the band released the darker, keyboard-heavy Portamento that September." - Heather Phares / All Music

"There's something very thoughtful and intentional about Frau Eva. The trio of Vanessa Degrassi, David Klinger and Ben Usie (singers and multi-instrumentalists, all) have clearly thought through every note, every lively "la da da," and every heartbreaking melody. No drumbeat seems misplaced. It's as if they took the bohemian spirit of Devendra Banhart, the pathos of Ben Gibbard and the meticulous arrangement of Grizzly Bear and turned these elements into their own soft-spoken anthems, referencing everything from Hermann Hesse to The Smiths. The songs on the their EP, Rip Out The Threads, can effectively soundtrack intimate moments alone." - DCist

Frau Eva on Facebook

Pree is performing first.

"There are many indications that the District of Columbia’s march towards gentrification continues unabated. The city is no longer the nation’s murder capital, big box stores sit atop ruins of the 1968 riots and one of the area’s most promising bands is neither hardcore nor punk. Nay. As Bob Dylan said before he became a reanimated corpse, “The times, they are a changin’.” The District is now home to the wonderfully expansive and complex indie-folk group Pree, a project created by vocalist (and Columbia Heights resident) May Tabol.

The band’s name, in addition to being a reference to Neutral Milk Hotel’s “A Baby for Pree,” is also a synonym for a test or trial. Tabol initially viewed her work with Pree as a test of her ability to step out of the backup vocal role she held in her former group, Le Loupe, and into the lead vocal spotlight. It’s safe to say that Tabol has passed, but this boundary-pushing attitude leads the album to take some unexpected and interesting turns. Some tracks, like “Lemon Tree,” are initially driven by a piano rag and acoustic guitar pairing that begs to be included in Apple’s next marketing campaign, when suddenly dreamy electric guitar licks come floating through the background. These electronic flourishes, a distorted loop effect here, a sudden influx of woodwinds or backup choir there, elevate Pree out of the morass of generic indie-folk groups and into something more akin to a female-fronted Modest Mouse with heavy folk influences. Another focal point of the album is Tabol’s pretty, if untraditional voice, which quavers somewhere between those of Regina Spektor and Joanna Newsome. Tabol bends the pitch of her notes to the breaking point and swallows her words hard, making for a wobbling, stuttering delivery that wisely resists going “full Newsome.” While Newsome’s voice has always been divisive, Talbol’s stays interesting and engaging without becoming “challenging,” which is code for “difficult to listen to,” and never lapses into affectation or precociousness.

Pree categorizes themselves as “Americana, Indie and Glam.” While bands sometimes pigeonhole themselves with tongue firmly in cheek, the categorization actually fits pretty well here. The band’s ability to weave the haziness of Good News for People Who Love Bad News seamlessly with folksy brushed drums and unearthly vocals leaves the listener with a lot to like in Folly. It’s an album that rewards repeated listening, as previously unheard elements seem to pop out each time. The album’s release date is perfectly timed – this is sweater music – and it may well become your soundtrack to autumn apple-picking adventures and corn maze road trips." Black Tusk are celebrating the release of "Set The Dial" at the Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, October 29th

We are presenting with Chunklet and Performer Magazine:

Black Tusk's "Set The Dial" album release show at The Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, October 29th.

"Emerging onto the metal scene from Savannah, GA in 2005, Black Tusk specialize in a brand of sludgy metal they call "swamp metal." The band, consisting of members Andrew (guitar/vocals), Athon (bass/vocals), and James (drums/vocals), combines the drive of fellow Savannah residents Baroness with the thick and murky stoner sludge of High on Fire. In 2005 the band self-released its first demo, Demos and the Demons, as well as the album When Kingdoms Fall, which was released on Wrecked Signal. Two years later they self-released another album, The Fallen Kingdom, and kept their prolific release schedule going the following year with Passage Through Purgatory, released on Hyperrealist Records. Taking what for them is a long break from recording, Black Tusk gained attention through tours with bands like Weedeater, Pentagram, and Eyehategod. The band eventually signed on to Relapse, and in 2010 released its first album through the label, Taste the Sin, featuring cover art from Baroness singer John Baizley." - Gregory Heaney / All Music

Coliseum will be the third performer of the evening.

"Louisville, KY's Coliseum was founded in November of 2003 by singer/guitarist Ryan Patterson, who named the band after his favorite brand of Sunn amplifiers and, in typical hardcore D.I.Y. fashion, entered the studio less than six months later with bandmates Keith Bryant (bass) and Matt Jaha (drums), to record a self-titled debut album for Level Plane Records. Extensive touring followed with the likes of Hot Cross, Cursed, and Breather Resist, as well as a split 7" with fellow Louisville natives Lords and their own Goddamage EP -- all before the end of 2004, with new bassist Mike Pascal making his entry in time for the latter. Then it was time for more road work (this time with metallic-leaning acts like Municipal Waste, Kylesa, and Buried Inside) and split singles, which packed Coliseum's schedule throughout 2005, until new drummer Chris Maggio was installed early the next year -- just in time for a European tour with Lords and a new recording contract with Relapse Records. And, after spending the second half of 2006 composing new material amid occasional touring, Coliseum entered Salem, MA's God City Studios, for the recording of their belated sophomore CD, No Salvation, released by Relapse in the fall of 2007." - Eduardo Rivadavia / All Music

Regents will be performing second.

Regents, whose members hail from a 200 mile stretch of i95, are veterans of some of the most influential hardcore bands of the 90’s including Maximillian Colby, Sleepytime Trio, Frodus, TheExploder, Men’s Recovery Project, Battery, and Combat Wounded Veteran. Band mates David NeSmith, Drew Ringo, Dan Evans and Jason Hamacher have come together to form a brutal and heavily charged punk band.

Regents formed in the summer of 2007 when NeSmith and Hamacher were playing as a keytar & drum duo called Regions. The following year Ringo and Evans moved back to the east coast and both separately approached David about playing music. NeSmith called a meeting and the three quickly realized their mutual goals. A call to Hamacher turned Regions from a duo into a quartet. A misunderstanding on Ringo’s part changed the band name from Regions to Regents and the rest is history.

40 Hells is performing at The Music Room on Thursday, October 27th, 2011.

"40 Hells feature ex-Black Cougar Shock Unit personnel (drummer Joel Perdue), a band I didn't really enjoy on record but thought were pretty good live. So now you get a chance to find out what Joel is doing on this split release from the band’s own label Anything But Radio and the Welsh-based Newest Industry Records (home to the aforementioned BCSU).

Whilst 40 Hells have a similar "dirty" sound to BCSU, which was often likened to Black Flag, overall this is a much more straightforward group of songs in terms of their structure and delivery, including an element of tunefulness and even a hint of melody. 40 Hells take on a more Hüsker Dü-type (before they hit the big time) approach but were adding more melody and cleansing themselves of some of the noise." The Bomb will be the third performer of the evening.

"Naked Raygun was a huge inspiration for me. Along with Fugazi and Leatherface, they helped create the bedrock that defines the "Gainesville sound". As much as I discredit the root idea that such a sound even exists or is quantifiable to such a finite point, I will at least concede that there are certain key influences for many a young (at heart) local miscreant. I digress. The fact that twenty-one years after NR played a legion hall in Gainesville, we are putting out a record that not only stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best NR album, but perhaps surpasses, well, this blows me away. I have a hard time finding words that express how much Pezzati's voice shakes me to the core. So I'll abandon words entirely and quote the man himself "Whoa Hey Ho". Yes. This record means that much. Crafting the music and bringing the workhorse/powerhouse ethic are Jeff Dean, Mike Soucy, and Pete Mittler, who have truly risen to the occasion. They have been in countless Chicago bands, and continue to split their time with several noteworthy, exceptional bands, including The Methadones and Four Star Alarm. Energy. Focus. Intensity. As if it could get any better, the album was recorded by J. Robbins, who also makes appearances on various songs. He really brought out the best in the band and songs, amplifying and directing, especially in the vocal harmonies and melodies. Pezzati turned in vocals on the last Paint It Black album, and Dan Yemin returns the favor here. Bob Nanna also lends his inimitable pipes to the mix." - -Var (No Idea Records)

The Magnificent started in late 2006 in Leeds, UK. We've played together in various bands since 1995, Buzzkill, Eighty Six, The Pedantics to name a few. The Mags is just an excuse to hang out, have fun and play simple songs about girls, drinking and growing up.

Hip To Death will be starting the show.

"Hip to Death’s first proper CD, Punk Will Never Die But You Will (random Mogwai reference intended), buries spooky punk inclinations under layers of loops and vertiginous currents of noise. Had this album been recorded in Los Angeles circa 1979 it would be revered by the Killed By Death contingency as a creepy cousin to the Bags, the Weirdos, or Chicago proto-punk savants Mentally Ill, albeit it less spastic. But it wasn’t, so it's bound to fly under the radar as the group’s dark and defiantly outsider leer doesn’t have many close neighbors in 2011 Atlanta. But at the trio’s blackened heart of hearts, it appears to be OK with that, and even thrives on it as pure, unadulterated contempt drives songs like “Black Mirror” and “Washed Out.” Unsettling samples of disembodied voices that constrict around the clap of thunder, fuzz and gloomy pop structures are splattered all over the CD.

If you’re familiar with Hip to Death’s previous demo, Live in a Dive at the 529 Club, singer/guitarist John Breedlove’s hostile snarl doesn’t come off so much like he’s throwing rocks with his words anymore in “Skate Morals.” The tantrums have been tempered, and when weighed against wife/bassist Kasey Breedlove’s slow, gothic swoon in “White Sands,” the aural extremities are laid bare. The album’s strengths lie in the harsh and spiraling collage of noises that serves as both the backbone and connective tissue. Its major flaw is its inability to break free from the form that’s established within the first 30 seconds after pressing play. But there are compelling hooks hiding in the din, waiting to be realized. The album is bleak, jagged, and honest to the point of surpassing comfort levels. As such, PWNDBYW is not an album that’s easy to meet halfway, but if you’re really feeling sinister, Hip to Death has your number." - Chad Radford / Creative Loafing Atlanta

Pillage & Plunder is performing at the Music Room on Wednesday, October 26th

Pillage & Plunder will be performing at The Music Room on Wednesday, October 26th, 2011.

"Atlanta’s Pillage & Plunder have just released their debut record, a six-song EP entitled Look Inside for the Prize full of quirky, angular pop and rock that sounds like nothing else going on in this town right now. The EP’s second track, “Blue,” finds the band trading in off-kilter rhythms and bringing a brainy arithmetic approach to their songwriting that feels a little jarring and cluttered at first listen, but, ultimately, it works. The melodramatic vocals are a bit flamboyant for my taste (think Matthew Bellamy from Muse), but they’re never overbearing and the band’s idiosyncratic arrangements help keep things dynamic and interesting." - Moe Castro / Latest Disgrace

Faun & A Pan Flute will be the third performer of the evening.

In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.

You dance inside my chest,
where no one sees you,

but sometimes I do,
and that sight becomes this art.

...

Fish don't hold the sacred liquid in cups!
They swim the huge fluid freedom.

Tiny Victories are the second performer of the evening.

"Tiny Victories debut recording, Mr Bones, has arrived. A Brooklyn via Athens/DC duo, Greg Walters and Cason Kelly combine experimental electronics with earthy vocals, lush orchestration, elements of noise rock and live drums. The band builds simple songs out of complex pieces, which they best describe as “experimental pop.” Recommended for fans of LCD Soundsystem, MGMT, Parts & Labor, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Fuck Buttons." - Charles Stepczyk / Insomnia Radio

"In this excerpt, Nadia (the band's lead singer) talks about her crazy vocals and how expressing their emotions can make one feel dirty after:

With your performances, as innocent and laid back as you guys are, it gets really tense up there with all the yelling. Where does that come from and why do you do that?

I’m gonna be 100% honest, the band wanted me to just stand there and sing with my cute voice. One day, I got really upset while I was singing during a live performance, and I screamed one line. It stayed with me, so now I continue to do it every now and then. It was totally an accident, but I stuck with it because it sounds great. Plus, all the songs are really emotional, and I love to try and capture that. I put a lot of myself into these songs so that it’s very real and very a part of me. It overcomes me a lot because most of the time it’s the deepest darkest secrets I’m telling. Encoded, but still telling.

Wow, so how should I listen to it?

You should feel dirty afterwards.

Oh, like I should go wash after this show then, huh?

No, maybe, but it’s a very serious thing I do. I hope the emotion shines through even beyond the meaning, and I hope people feel it. People can take and mold their own meaning to our stuff, I just would really like it to mean something to someone else." Star Watson / Bubble Gum Pop Rap

Eryn Woods will be headlining The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, October 21st

Eryn Woods will be performing at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, October 21st.

“Holl.E.Woods:” The unapologetic underbelly of a city, decorated by society’s outcasts, led by the red-headed mohawk queen, Eryn Woods and the namesake of her latest album.

Recently featured on MTV’s The Jersey Shore,VH1’s Beverly Hills Fabulous and VH1’s Mob Wives. Eryn Woods is a 21 year old Louisiana native out to redefine the image of the “pop princess.” The black swan of the bubble gum world, Eryn has been touring the nation and rallying her “kupcake” army in an effort to change the status quo. “Everything isn’t glitter and glam, even with all the fame,” notes Woods. “It’s about finding yourself and maturing, and owning the blood, sweat, and tears, it takes to get there.”

Eryn’s career gained momentum in 2005 after reaching the semi-finals of Gospel Dream, a nationally televised solo vocal competition, where she caught the eye of Grammy nominated singer Kelly Price. Her musical pedigree includes five years of vocal training and over 12 years of combined musical study.

“Hollywood” conjures up the images of “making it,” and this is at the core of Holl.E.Woods. The entire album is centered around the dichotomy of what the general public deems as “normal” and what is “real,” and celebrates the individuality of people.

Eddy will be performing second.

I never read long bios I'm way to A.D.D to read through all that copy so I will keep this short ;)

I'm eddy and I am a 4′11″ish journal collecting cupcake baker with an affinity for the scratching noises on old records who is more than a little unclear on exactly what my natural hair color is and a singer/songwriter/procrastinator extraordinaire who definitely wasn’t a screamer for a hardcore metal band when I was 15. Nope, I definitely was not..

This Piano Plays Itself will be GOING ON HIATUS after performing at The 529 on Sunday, October 16th

"A friend of mine from Georgia, Davy over at Ohm Park, sent a local Atlanta band my way that he thoroughly enjoys. It’s always a treat receiving a new and unheard of album from a trusted confidant, much preferred over the hit and (often times) miss approach some of you crazy publicists utilize. The band is called This Piano Plays Itself and have made a name for themselves around Atlanta with their stellar live performances, something definitely believable considering their big sound.

The Georgian quintet have a guitar-driven shoegaze sound that reminds me of Explosions In The Sky or Slint, with billowing movements and more layers than Trident’s latest marketing gimmick. I’m not sure if you’ve got a set of superb speakers or rock out your tunes on ear buds, but “Who We Were” jams out like something epic on a stellar set of headphones. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to experience This Piano Plays Itself in person soon." - I Guess I'm Floating

The Summer Pledge are performing third.

The Summer Pledge was made on December 21st, 2007 in Detroit, MI. We've grown, evolved, transformed and transfigured. We play music that pushes and moves us in a positive direction and we hope that it has the same effect on others. We fully embrace the DIY mentality and a solid work-ethic, believing that all of our visions will become reality with enough drive, hard work, tenacity and patience.

New Animal are scheduled to be the second performer.
