CANCELLED - Sons Of Hippies - Thursday, July 11th at The Drunken Unicorn

TONIGHT's Sons Of Hippies show has been CANCELLED due to VAN PROBLEMS :-(

Sons Of Hippies are appearing at The Drunken Unicorn on Thursday, July 11th, 2013.

"High in the mountains of Tennessee, Sons of Hippies was conceived amid fellow music lovers at a festival on a 700-acre farm on a sunny June afternoon; their name originated when Brazilian native Jonas Canales and Florida-bred Katherine Kelly probed familial bonds to discover they were, indeed, children of hippies. The duo's dreamily melodic but complexly synthesized music required the mentorship of Pro-Pain guitarist Tom Klimchuck who produced and played bass on the band's March ’09 debut, Warriors of the Light,[2] which received the critic’s choice award from Tampa’s popular Creative Loafing publication for “Best Modern-Sounding Record” of 2009."

Sons Of Hippies on Facebook

Duende will be performing before Sons Of Hippies.

Duende started as two white dudes scream-crying their emotions out over acoustic guitars with only a bottle of gin to keep them company. That was how Mike and Jake spent the first 6 months of Duende saga, before Matt Daniell came along and helped them make real music by adding some down right abusive beats to their emotive outbursts. At this point, the band began playing at ear-destroying volumes.

HERO - Wednesday, June 26th at The Drunken Unicorn

HERO are performing at The Drunken Unicorn on Wednesday, June 26th, 2013.

It truly is a "family affair!"- Four blood brothers, multiple musical talents, and one big dream are the motivating factors that keep this band steadily moving toward a successful music career that touches lives around the nation and world. Like many artists, this band of brothers started singing in the church. Coming from a musically inclined family, this is no surprise. Both their mom and dad sing, and several uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandparents sing and play as well. "Music is in their blood"; and that is why the Hero sound is so rich with soul, electric energy, and wholeness.

Featuring vocalist Aily Iglesias, and multi-instrumentalists, Aram Luc and Cameron Isham. Jacuzzihidive encompasses several styles and influences, taking elements of the diverse palette of our modern world and matching them with nostalgic flavor and spirit. It’s music not meant to be classified by a single genre, but a well executed take on modern pop is a good starting point.

Small Black - Saturday June 22nd at The Drunken Unicorn

Small Black are performing at The Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013.

The cover of the album, shot by Dutch artist Scarlett Hooft Graafland, serves as as sort of visual source code for its themes. How are our desires limited and how, in turn, are we limited by them? Featuring a man and a woman embracing on either side of a ladder, the two are completely naked, divided by its triangular span - close but unable to get any closer. It is a moving depiction of modern connectivity and interaction.

Skybison will be starting the show.

Skybison is the solo moniker of Dylan Banks, a musician from Atlanta and creator of the group, Calm White Noise. Though Banks has composed music of his own since 2008, he started to compile songs that can be performed either by himself, or minimal support in May of 2012. Pulling influences from styles such as electronic, indie pop, hip hop, and experimental/psychedelic, Skybison seeks to create sounds in hope of dodging any genre preconceptions, limiting the possibilites for a style all over the musical spectrum.
