Admirals will be performing before Swank Motel.

Believe it or not, Indie rock's best kept secret is the small close knit community of bands and artists from Oklahoma. In the wake of bands like The Flaming Lips, Starlight Mints, Other Lives, and Colourmusic, Admirals is emerging as one of the premiere bands in this region of the country. Hailing from Stillwater Oklahoma, home of Big XII's Oklahoma State University, Colton Tucker (Guitar/Vocals) Andrew Bair (Keyboards/Piano/Guitar) Cory Brewer (Drums) and Brett Murphy (Bass) make music that has been described as "What is missing from modern rock music (Aaron Legrands-Producer Nashville).

Shots Fired will be the first performer of the evening.

What do you do when the guys in your other band are on tour with their other "main" bands? You start another band of course!
Primate was taking a break while Bill was off conquering the world with Mastodon and Kevin was assaulting Japan in Brutal Truth and Mike, Shayne and Dave were sitting around bored. Mike said, "hey, so why don't we write a bunch of hardcore songs and play some shows." It sounded like a good idea so we started Shots Fired.

The Starboarders believe in making music that people can believe in, while creating anthems that shake the very core of rock. They have created a new genre of music called Hope Rock that is defined not only by the musical rhythms and style, but also carries with it a message of hope to a world needing to hear not only good music, but something more than simply a song.

Ars Phoenix will be performing first

"Dark wave, post punk, electro noise, shoegaze, these are the areas visited by Jon and Paige or, if you prefer, Ars Phoenix, an unnerving combo that follows the paths of favorites Screen Vinyl Image but with more somberness and electronics. The debut of Hanging Fire speaks for itself from the opening song Hanging Fire to . . . the dark wave leads that characterize most of the songs and qualify Ars Phoenix to stay on the front line with bands like Cold Cave and the Soft Moon, remodeling the styles of the dark garbed 80's while bringing them up to date for our times." -- The Blog That Celebrates Itself

Corner Kid will be headlining The Drunken Unicorn on Wednesday, May 30th, 2012.

Corner Kid (Chad Yochum) is on a mission to explore every nook and cranny of the full spectrum of music. With his debut album "Atlas, At Last!" he portrays every aspect of his own being through a myriad of self-performed instruments and textures, from ear-piercing guitars, to haunting antique pianos, horn sections, ukulele, harmonium, even a simulation of the SID Chip, which was used to make music for the Commodore 64. If he thinks it, he makes it happen. And his reason is simply "Why not?"

In August of 2007, brothers Andrew and Dan Callaway found themselves living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the entire family together for the first time since their childhood spent in the English countryside. Along with their father, Liam Callaway, the trio of musicians began writing songs reflective of their Athens, Georgia roots and their fortuitous return to the South.

The result is an unusual combination of Southern edge and English introspection, with haunting lyrics and massive chamber rock unfurling in a sweeping, evocative surge of sound.

Rocky Votolato is headlining the Drunken Unicorn on Tuesday, May 29th

is presenting:

Rocky Votolato at The Drunken Unicorn on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012.

Seattle musician Rocky Votolato is a soft-spoken, very kind, very hard-working father of two, born in rural Texas and raised in the Pacific Northwest indie scene (where he fronted the acclaimed rock band Waxwing). In his decade-plus life as a songwriter and musician he has sought to articulate something essential about life, writing songs that seem to have been scratched into a boxcar wall by a worn-out and lonesome ghost. His gravelly, sandpaper smooth voice and introspective lyrics mark him as that most rare of punk-rocker-turned-acoustic-troubadours: Votolato writes graceful, understated, human, unpretentious songs, demonstrating that simplicity is still a viable option for accomplished songwriters.

Georgia native and Atlanta-based vocalist/songwriter Kristian Rodriguez is currently supporting his recently self-released debut album entitled, "Evergreen". Composed over several years mainly during curious and question-fueled trips westward - away from the stagnant and familiar, each song is a meditation or hymn inspired by encounters with the natural world. Together they form a song cycle that celebrates the regenerative nature in all life.

Baby Baby as written by Gun Party -

Quit hatin. These dudes are fun. Raucous party tunes. Sometimes feete shufflink , sometimes a touch of metaltastic. These guys like hard work and ball sweat. If you haven't started moving yet, then you are really really running out of excuses at this point. Save your excuses for when you need them, like the next day when you were supposed to meet this cute girl for coffee at eleven AM, which you make but then have to explain your godawful smell because you met her at bible study and want her to think you are something that you are not.
They have an album. That they recorded. Do that.

"Parrallels, whilst having a band-y sound have merged the boundaries of electronic music with songs having featured in mixes by France's shell-suit wearing Valerie Collective with their breed of high-pitched 80s vocals. Their computer beats and driving synths fit perfectly with their fluo-branded aesthetics and a dark aural atmosphere akin to those heavy in the West-coast blog electro of '06." - Dazed Digital

Ghost Party are starting the show.

Atlanta's indie band Ghost Party formed in 2009 when Patrick Boggs (drums, loops), Henry Watts (bass) and Jonathan Whiteside (wurlitzer, synthesizers) began writing electronic dance music as an instrumental trio. After recording a handful of demos, the band's producer Bruce Butkovich (Futura Bold, Brain Box) introduced them to Marium Khalid (vocals) whose vocal style was the perfect contrast to their music. Realizing they'd found the "right combination", the foursome started writing new songs together and Ghost Party was born. Conjuring the spirit of classic 1980's electronic bands, Ghost Party crafts their own style of dark, percussive dance floor grooves weaved with sensual and playful vocals sung in English, Urdu, Hindi and French.
